FIRST week back term 2

Welcome back to Room 7 - what an awesome week. I was so proud of Room 7 on Wednesday in our school assembly - they were so SHARP!

Our SHARP students for our first week back are.....Harrison, Campbell and Ali =)
Thank you to these 3 boys for attending the ANZAC parade in the holidays.

Welcome back Room 7 students - Miss Burt has a prezzie for you......Douglas looking at his book.

Liv & Sophia unopening their book to read.

Jet was very happy to get his book to read ;)

Woohoo here we are: Ali, Dallas, Tyah, Harrison, Fergus & Max.

Max, William, Logan, Zac and Ava with their books to read.

Tyah, Esther, Petra, Jet and Mackenzie.
(Hi to Petra's Grandma) =)

Mackenzie, Kuini, Elliot & Campbell - books to read!!

Liv, Sophia, Annabelle & Charlie.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO KNOW HOW SPECIAL THEY ARE.
As part of our SHARP lesson - showing RESPECT to others and things...
We did this exercise - the children wrote their name in the middle of the flower. And the flower was passed around all the children. Each child wrote a compliment in a petal =)

Jet writing on a flower...

Charlie...

Zac & Max....

Logan, Niysa & Ava...
WOOHOO - Room 7 had a big surprise on Monday afternoon. The children had written a letter about their Mum and why she should be queen for the day. (Kane did a letter about his sister)....I took the letters up to the Times-Age.
A staff member from the Times-Age turned up to Room 7 on Friday with a big bag of Freddie frogs - see photo below...Esther with our entries and the bag of Freddies.
Ngā rakau (sticks).....the below photos show the children using ngā rakau to do the actions to a couple of songs in Māori.

Good on you Ali & Niysa. I have started reading the book Gangsta Granny by David Walliams to the class. The next day Ali & Niysa brought some other David Walliams books into class.

Super SHARP ANZAC day title pages - these had to have information, questions and pictures on them.

Well done to Sophia who won the title page competition.

Dear Room 7......I wrote the class a BIG LONG letter with all the things they have to look forward to in term 2. Please have a read of this (it's on the wall in class).

CONGRATULATIONS to these wonderful readers...

SHARP lesson this week is RESPECT.

ROOM 7 had some good discussion on different ways of showing respect to other people and property.

This is what they told me they do at home to show respect:
Jordyn - tidies up in her room every day. She tidies her plate.
Petra - helps clean up after dinner.
Fergus - puts the dishes on the bench. Eats with his mouth closed. Doesn't talk with his mouth full (nice manners Fergus).
Zac - does stuff for Mum and Dad.
Kuini - puts things where they go. Takes care of her brothers. Picks up rubbish for her mum.
Mackenzie - does jobs.
Niysa - helps her mum.
Charlie - tidies up the house.
Campbell - puts the dishes on the bench and tidies up after himself.
Ava - puts the dishes away. Puts her plate away and cleans up the kitchen.
Jet - does mum's jobs.
Elliot - does the washing.
Harrison - puts his toys away.
Tyah - puts the dishes away.
Esther - opens the door for people. Puts her plate up.
Jacob - picks things for dinner from the garden.

I talked to the class how it is important to show respect to yourself - so this is how some of Room 7 do so:
Look after yourself - Zac
By telling yourself that you're important every day - Mackenzie
I look where I am going - Niysa
Get yourself a treat - Charlie
Keeping myself healthy - Campbell
Treating myself and not falling over - Ava
I brush my teeth, I stay fit and I eat healthy - Jet
I be good to me - Elliot
Feed myself - Tyah
Look after my body and stay healthy - Esther
