The children had to write to tell me why I should choose them to work in the garden with Mrs Evans.
Well done year 3's.

Dear Miss Burt,
I think you should choose me because I love to get outside and learn new things.
I have  great experience with nature and I have a lot to learn.
It is excellent to get in touch with nature by gardening. I love planting stuff and collecting leaves.
From Imogen

Dear Miss Burt,
Please choose me to work in the garden because I'm tired of my normal jobs at Poppa's house and mum's. All I do at Poppa's is put the rocks in and all I do at mum's is help mow the lawn.
But I think I will be very good at other stuff in the garden like watering plants, putthing them in lovely soil.
i think I will really like it - it will be a new experience and it will be fun.
Gardens - yeah!
From Ella.

Dear Miss Burt,
Can you please choose me because I love love finding bugs in the garden. I like meeting bugs I have never seen before. I love seeing lots of different flowers.
I really like to help.
From Sadie.

Dear Miss Burt,
I want to garden because I live on a farm and we live on two acres. We take weeds out and
I am really good at it.
We have got fruit trees.
It is fun, I water them every day and make sure that they are straight.
Love Phoebe.

Dear Miss Burt,
Choose me because I always help my mum in the garden and plant flowers and vegetables. I really like planting in the garden as well.
Please choose me.
From Maddy.

This is a very special HERO story....
MY HERO - By Bailey
Sam is my hero because we play together lots. We invite each other to our houses.
Sam is very funny and playful.
Sam has been a nice friend every year and day of my happy little life.
Sam says to me that he likes watching What Now. There is a big story about how I sent a mesage to them and more cool stuff to go on tv.
Sam is happy and fantastic.
One of my favourite things to do with Sam is playing together and laughing!
Funny things we do are tell jokes and be funny - make faces.
An interesting thing is that we are friends.

When one is home sick and needs cheering up - just dial SUPER SHARP 7.
These are a selection of what the children wrote to me in their get well cards: (see why I cried)...so gorgeous.

"I really hope you get well soon. I miss your awesome smile. I miss all your teaching from over the moon and back. From your 16th favourite boy, Cameron."

"I hope you get well soon. Room 7, I mean SUPER SHARP 7 really want you back teaching at Super Sharp 7.
On the front of this card there is a rainbow. I put a rainbow on the front of the card because I know that you like rainbows.

DESCRIPTIVE WRITING...August 2014

'Picture - in the middle of the bush, a man walking on a very high bridge, with a huge tall tree that he has to walk around"...

Here are some of the writing pieces: Enjoy...

ON THE EDGE OF THE WORLD - By Caitlin
The fragile bridge swayed under my weight. I am Viv, an important researcher, here to discover new species of plants or animals,
I am in a big, green, leafy, forest of big, thick, trees, dark green undergrowth, swift, swirling, rushing rivers, and chattering critters.
I smell like animal dung, and thick luscious juicy air.
I reached a great, thick, beige, wide, fat, tree trunk, I touched the deep, scaly, trunk and realised that it was a new species of tree!
I knelt down on the bridge and silently prayed thanks to Tāne Mahuta, God of the forest.
The other researchers came to help.
It is a very treasured memory of mine.

This one is written by George.
My plane has crashed in the jungle. I walk and walk until I come upon a bridge a mile away.
I hear birds squawking and chattering.
Something growls below. I walk on.
Soon I hear water rushing over and down rocks. I see the waterfall.
I come upon a sheltering place. I sit down on the hardwood floor.

I feel scared. Where does this bridge lead to? Grrrr......a growl comes from up the path. I feel SO scared my heart stops beating.

Something pounces on me - I DIE!

- By Grace
He was walking across this enormous bridge in the deep, dark jungle. He's worried that he's going to fall off the bridge into gree hard trees.
He can see animals down below him. He is feeling worried - he can see the big leathery leaves on the trees.
He feels like the animals are going to eat him, he looks like he is running across the bridge to make it wobble like jelly.
He can see the big bushes and leaves above him, he smells fresh .
Looking at the beautiful view of the sea. He can see a waterfall. He can see how much he is going to run.
He is still worried that he is going to fall off the bridge.

- By Shkhan
I heard the wind blowing in my face and the Birds. It looks like a nice peaceful forest.
Smells like fresh air. I can do what I want. I can Do Bungy jumping flips. I can see snakes lizards, kiwis and deer.
It's a magical tree house.
I’m waiting for my friends, I’m climbing the ladder I wonder what is up there.
Suddenly I Hear a volcano erupting!!
I ride a big bird. I can see a big view from up here I am shosked.
I haven't got any electronic stuff so I light a fire and hunt for Food. I chopped bears skin for a blanket to keep me warm.
