Week 4 in Room 7

Reminder that Monday 22nd August is teacher only day.

Room 7 are working hard to learn Ko Wairarapa Haka..we are practising each morning. On Friday afternoon, we joined year 2 up to practise outside. The haka is sounding great and we are getting good at the actions.

Here we are lining up.

With year 2 up .

Each day a child's name is chosen from the 'caught ya' box - this is a box where the children put their name in when I catch them being SHARP. The photo below is William reading his story from the book that the 'caught ya' child takes home with their guest (soft toy).
Dallas had a super duper birthday - here he is telling the class his birthday news.
What a great birthday party you had Dallas with your friends and family.
Totara Syndicate assembly - below are some photos of Room 7 in our syndicate assembly. We meet up as a syndicate once a fortnight - where we share songs, news, SHARP students and notices. It's a nice time for us all to be together.

Douglas enjoying showing the class his musical instruments - we had a fun impromptu music session and a dance to some msuic.

AHHH! Nothing like a massage to calm us all down - here we are being SHARP and the children were writing a message on the person in front of them - something nice.

I have mentioned the author Andy Griffiths before - he has a fun writing book out. One subject is the bad teacher!! So the class had some fun writing some things the bad teacher would tell them to do! Below are some of their ideas.....

Douglas working with Kath =)
MULTIPLICATION - we have started our new maths subject: Multiplication & Division.
The photos below show a group of children using counters to help them work out multiplication problems....the language we are using is: How many groups of.
So :  3 x 3 = ...... 3 groups of 3 =

Friday fun - I brought some bread to school. Douglas along with Max & Ali had some fun making 100's and 1000's bread for the class.

Jackie helping hand out the 100's & 1000's bread.
Another HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Campbell celebrates his 9th birthday - hope you had a fab Saturday Campbell =) Much love from us all.
Mandarin lesson with Shan - the children played bingo using numbers in Mandarin. They are very good at using the language.
Have a great work all. I found this great saying (below)...I was telling one of the children from Room 7 (during the week) that I love all the children I teach so much. The boy was quite upset - and he got a bit grumpy and said no one cared. I told him I cared - and that is why I teach. That I love each child....I think this saying sums it up nicely.
The other thing I talk about quite a bit is that making mistakes is all part of learning. I say how I make mistakes - and learn from them. Like I talk to the children - we are all human and it's only natural that we will make mistakes, and it's good to look at what happened and what changes you can make. Forgive yourself and move on.
