Week 4 - 11th August - 15th August

Hi all, And welcome to week 4 in Room 7.

Another great week was had in week 3...A few bugs flying around (teacher included). KEEP WARM, WRAP UP AND KEEP WELL. We often have chats about keeping ourselves well - drinking lots of water, keeping warm, good hygiene when coughing, sneezing & blowing noses, washing our hands etc....

SHARP STUDENT week 3 was....Emma. Emma is always pretty 100% SHARP and it was good to see Emma helping others out and standing up for other people (all in line with our RECENT SHARP LESSONS!).
Well done Emma - well deserved. Thank you for all the help you give to me & the class!
And big ooops we forgot your SHARP reward that you chose, laptop time.
We will do this week ...

OUT OF SCHOOL TIME - just a lil photo to show our dashing Mitchell & Bailey with their old teacher Miss Burt (hehe)....off to a wedding (the boys were)

These photos show the children learning their multiplication by arrays (row x row)...SHARP BEHAVIOUR during wet breaks - plasticine making creatures. Dress up fun - beautiful princesses!!! Enjoy!

Happy week to you=)

Week 2 in Room 7...

Kia ora,
And week 2 completed!

Welcome to week 3: August 4th - August 8th.
A lot of photos to view this week - so comments along with the pics - 1st one is of Boston - Boston came to school with a sore eye, so Dr Burt thought a rest in the 'Caught ya' chair with my flying sleep mask may just be the medicine. And it was!

Some SUPER SHARP work to show this week - here is Caitlin's reading work. The children are doing descriptive writing so I had them read some descriptive texts. They then had to display the dif. parts of the text they read. Eg: What it looked like/did/smelt like/felt like etc....This picture (at the bottom of the page) it shows the titles and you open up each triangle to see the writing & illustrations underneath.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES...Here we are on the R7 podium, for brainstorming. This was for their DESTINY, DREAMS & WISHES title pages (to do with the Commonwealth Games). Gold - Michelle. Silver - Theo. Bronze - Sepp. Special 4th place - Bailey.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES - title pages. Gold goes to ..... Samuel. Silver goes to....Claudia. Bronze goes to.....Monet & the special 4th place goes to.......Ruby L.
BUBBLE WRAP FUN.....We had a race - boys (Australia) girls (New Zealand) to see which team could pop the most bubbles on the wrap. For Australia = Oscar & for NZ = Giselle...rolling ....

Woooooo...go Australia = Archie S jumping to get the gold...

SUPER SHARP STUDENT = Giselle for all round week 1. Well done Giselle. Giselle picked the fish & chip lunch for her SHARP reward.
MORE SUPER 7 SHARP work - Ruby M & Bailey with their fantastic bookwork. Both paid a visit to the principal, Mr Mackay. LOOK at this awesome work!

Bailey's title page...good brainstorming.

Ruby's descriptive writing outline.
DEAR THIMIRA.....the children wrote very good letters to our friend Thimira. Here is the BIG envelope filled with our letters. (Shkhan gave me the idea to make them into a book - so I did). I read them to the children, some of the jokes were pretty funny!

On the way to the Post Shop....

Michelle & the cargo taking a rest in Sarah's garden.

Grace, Ruby L, Bailey, Giselle, Michelle & Emma on our way to the Post Shop.

Phew - here we are!

Right crew - what do we need to do?

That's right - measure the envelope - length & thickness..

$2.50 for the stamp, counting out the coins.

Stamp.

Nearly there...

Here you go Thimira - and we paid for it - receipt for proof.

Goodbye to the  letters........

A sculpture break on the way back.

DESCRIPTIVE WRITING..using picture prompts. I took a few pictures to show the picture the child was using, their title and story starter...

SHARP REWARD...Giselle and friends. Giselle was kind and shared some of her hot chips! That's nice Giselle, thank you!

So ..... a busy week was had by all =) here's to a really good week 3.
Homework: Speech (impromptu) fun ideas - to do some speaking work at home. And to get the children speaking out loud. (Handy hints on the sheet coming home).
We will start writing the speeches at school, later on in the term there will be a bit of home help needed.
But at this stage IT'S ALL ABOUT getting your child to speak out loud with a clear & loud voice, good stance, looking at who you are talking to and showing confidence.
