July 27 - 31st - welcome to week 2.

A FABULOUS 1st week back for term 3.
Well done all Super SHARP 7 students!!

SUPER SHARP SPELLERS....term 2 - Daisy, Xaivier, Ella, Maddy & Connor - nearly 100%/week for the term.

Wow - 100% SUPER SHARP SPELLERS ....term 2. Sam, Imogen, Sam, Axel & Emelia.
These 5 children got 100% each week in their partner spelling testing. All the children took a spelling certificate home to let you know what they got each week. Make sure you have had a read of the certificate - and the challenge of this term to better their scores.

First day back term 3...look at this handsome bunch - we are lined up to walk to the Matariki garden.
A fantastic bunch of parents, teachers & children helped last term to clear the garden.
It is very exciting for us all as the children can now play in the garden.

The amazing posts that represent the gateway to the Matariki gardens - plus when you graduate from Greytown School - you leave through these gates with your baskets of knowledge full and all you have learnt from your time at Greytown School.
Ask your child what the paua shells in both the posts mean.

Sadie - Got the highest count of baby trees - well up into the 90's......
SHARP litter pick up boys - Angus & Seb. Well done boys for picking up rubbish - you are stars!!
The fantail tree - I love this tree. A great climbing one.
Woohoo - SUPER SHARP litter group - thank you Room 7 for picking up rubbish from our gardens.

We were on a mission to count the amount of baby trees - when the children are playing in the garden they do have to take care not to stand on these gorgeous trees.
Thank you Phoebe, Maddy & Izzie for helping keep our garden clean =)
Working very hard - the children were designing their own circus.
I read them a story about a boy who dreamt the circus had come to his house - but it didn't quite turn out how the boy thought it would.

In Room 7 we talk a lot about "Growth Mindset" - this is a very good learning path to have your child on. The above whiteboard display shows our discussion around 'QUESTIONING"...
This term I am having a big focus on 'Listening & questioning skills' - yes you may know the answer - BUT what can you add to your answer (give detail - more information - explanations etc...
This is such an important path for the children to be on - and to have throughout their whole lives.

An example is our black box.
On Monday - I asked the question "What colour is Monday?"
The children - think, pair & share.

Some of the replies were thought provoking:
Yellow - because it's a bright day - the beginning of the week
Grey & white - because I'm tired & struggle to get out of bed
Yellow - normally on Monday the sky is kind of sunny
Maroon - because they both start with M.
Yellow - because Monday is shiny.

Now - what would your answer be to "What colour is Monday?" - talk to your child about this.

MANDARIN LESSONS....
Welcome to our new Mandarin (Chinese) teacher...Flora.
欢迎来到我们的菌群中国新老师
Huānyíng lái dào wǒmen de jùn qún zhōngguó xīn lǎoshī

Flora is fab - she's very bubbly and the children had a great 1st session with her today.
