We did it - 1st week done & dusted...

Kia ora all,
Well can you believe it - 1st week has finished!

What an amazing week - I can't believe how well your children have settled back into school. It must be so tiring for them after the ease of holidays.

Having a 4 day week - (I must say) is bliss!

Ella - with the ASK ME card - so if children are stuck on something they can go to the 2 children wearing the ASK ME card =)

WOOOOOOOHOOOOO -  a visit to the principal ALREADY! Yay - well done Jayden & Axel - fantastic writing...Mr Mackay was impressed too!
Discussing what 'friendliness' means.....Below are Dylan & Sam - sharing their friendliness pictures and what this word means. How they show friendliness etc...
This week's W.O.W (word of the week) was FRIENDLINESS ... a very important word for starting the school year. I'm a big believer of our class bonding, and helping each other out.
So far - this has been very special to see.
Great work Angus & Evie =) (above)
Super duper work Maddy & Izzie...(above)
 Great friendliness drawing Axel...(above)
Toby was the 1st to hand in his homework "caught ya!"...Xaivier sharing his picture....(above)
 Ella showing friendliness with Imogen...(above)
 Great work SUPER SHARP 7...(above)
Emelia & Sadie - sharing their pictures....and discussing what friendliness is and how we show friendliness...(above)
Good on you Connor - great drawing! Milly loves your picture...and well done Milly =) (above)
Abigail, Bella & Olivia sharing their work - go girls!! (above)
Phoebe & Sam T - sharing their work - well done!! (above)
Our famous TED - where is he hiding?? This is the family tree of Room 7 - have a look when you come into the room.

- Thank you to all for having your child's stationery in =)

- THANK YOU TO ALL THE CHILDREN who did their FRIENDLINESS homework - great display in our class.  Some auction dollars given out already ;) yay!
There were a few children who didn't hand in the homework - please try and encourage your child because with things like W.O.W we have a sharing time with the work they have done. (Thank you!).

HOMEWORK from week 2 - will be spelling words, basic facts, reading each night & a little other activity.
Homework books will go home from Monday - and please they need to be back on Friday (for spelling partner testing).

READING LOGS: Please help your child to fill this out each night - we have a competition to see who can reach the most nights - the first milestone is 25 nights.
At our Syndicate assembly (every 2nd week) the children who have reached the milestones get to stand up and we have a lil celebration.

Swimming is going well - we are extremely lucky to have Anna, who helps us with our swimming lessons.

LIBRARY - Every Thursday. Please remind your child to bring their library book back on this day. We had our first visit yesterday and the child can take 2 books out.

Have a great week all....week 2 we will be doing a lot of testing. Your child will be tired - it's a big thing being back at school fulltime ;)
I found this chart which I thought was a good remidner re: sleep. Sleep can be a hard thing for some children (I know my own daughter struggles at times to go to sleep....)
The chart I found on the "Scholastic Parents facebook site" - it's a good site to have a look at.

Look at this exciting event that will be happening in Greytown...and other towns in the Wairarapa.

Day 1, term 1 - 2015.

Kia ora - and here we are on day 1.

Welcome to all the new children & parents in SUPER SHARP 7...here's to a great rest of the week - as great as today was!

SOME 1STs happened today - Abigail was the friendship winner. Daisy nominated Abigail for being a good friend and for helping her throughout her 1st day at her new school. Go Abigail!!
THEE famous "caught ya" chair - Maddy was the first person to sit in the chair for 2015....and the 1st person to take Cuddles home for the night - we look forward to your blog update Maddy =)
Bailey & Sam - the 1st people to trial our new "ask me" system. I'll see how this goes - 2 people wear the badges for the day - and the other children are allowed to ask them questions if they need help.
Riley about to check the mailbox - for the 1st time in 2015 AND YES THERE WAS MAIL!!! yay!!

But I am in one of my favourite places at the moment Room 7 =) Getting ready for the year ahead with my new class.

"He aha te mea nui o te ao?

He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!
What is the most important thing in the world?

Happy & safe Christmas to you all

Ho ho ho! Some photos to brighten your day - and to say thank you all for a great year.
Thank you for my gifts - and your lovely words in cards & notes.
As the children witnessed I could not read some cards while in class - honestly I must of gone through a few boxes of tissues.

Kapa Haka did us proud at our final school assembly for 2014

Here is Lachie making his creation....

The girls busy making their headbands....

 Good job Tahirih! Stunning!!!!

And....Grace.

Last reading activity for the year - facts about Christmas. The children were quite fascinated with some of the answers......Christmas treasure hunt.

 Bailey & Bella working together.....
Getting the answers - NEARLY THERE!!!!

 CAMERON WAS WORKING SO HARD!
Below...this is it ROOM 7 nearly bare! We sat in a circle and talked about a word to describe Room 7 over 2014 - Shkhan made Miss Burt cried as his word was FAMILY! On that note - be happy, be safe & hug each other xxx
Over & out - Miss Burt =)

Beautiful Christmas Song...

This song we are loving: "This is an original song written by Andy Eldred and played by the Gathering Band from St. Lukes in Greytown New Zealand. May you have a blessed Christmas and wonder-filled new year!"

December..Last week of school...2014..

Kia ora & Happy Christmas to you all - be safe, be merry and have fun!

REMINDERS for our last few days...

1. Please have your child bring a large plastic bag or cloth bag to school on Tuesday to put all their books & equipment in.

2. WEDNESDAY is our final morning at school...All the children will need is their morning tea. So please don't bring school bags as we walk to Kuranui College for the final assembly and the children are dismissed from there.

3. SO PICK UP...from Kuranui College at 1pm - Wednesday 17th December.

I was most impressed with the childrens' individual Inquiries. They chose their own topic and presented this information in either a keynote or poster. These posters went home on Thursday (please excuse if your child wasn't finished, they can finish at home).
The children shared in a small group and had to tell the group 2-3 facts that they learnt.

Thank you for my prezzies - Shkhan & George. Lovely words =)

Happy Birthday to Theo.

PASS IT ON....Archie, Boston, Archie & Grace lining up to read out their pass on the kindness tickets.
My 2 right hand men....counting the dollars for our Homework Auction...
WOOHOO.....look what we bought...
Before the children opened what they had bought.
Mother Clare - joined in the Jump Rope for Heart.

Camp was amazing - the biggest thing I get out of camp is seeing children giving everything a go and trying new experiences. Also mixing with children they may not normally hang out with.

Have a good break all - have fun & laugh...
