The week that was - week 2 in super SHARP seven =)

'He rā mokopuna - A fine day in winter - a great day to spend with a grandchild.'
Here are Petra, Annabelle, Liv, Campbell, Douglas & Mackenzie - watching one of our amazing videos that we showed at our assembly.

Getting ready for Syndicate Assembly.
Room 7 did so well presenting our assembly on Tuesday - they spoke nice and clear.
3 Te Reo Māori  - te huarere (the weather) were presented with the children speaking in Māori asking a question and answering. We showed some songs about getting on with others and that happiness is not just about the money.
We showed the video "Christian the Lion" because I am reading the book "The Butterfly Lion" by Michael Morpurgo (you HAVE TO READ this - so so sad), and thought provoking.

Fraction (pizza time) with Douglas

Ms Briggs visits Totara Syndicate - yay...Ms Briggs was in school on Thursday to help with some Enviro work. She had some selected students from Totara Syndicate to help her do some weeding in the shade house. From Room 7 the students were: Niysa, Petra, Annabelle & Campbell.
They did a great job!

Working with the iPads, the students are doing their recount writing and presenting about Pet Day. I gave them a good example of an article that had been written for the Wairarapa Times Age. This showed the children that there wasn't a huge amount of writing BUT IT gave the reader a lot of information.
Jordyn, Tyah and Niysa working on their picCollage - pet day recount

Kuini & Ava doing the same.

Ali & Harrison - pet day excitement

Charlie doing a great job with good ole pen and paper
SUPER SHARP SEVEN CHILDREN - congratulations to Campbell and Annabelle for being the SHARP students for week 2. Campbell for achievement in maths and being SHARP all around...Annabelle for A+ SHARP.

MATHS,,,,,maths......measuring using rods.....the children measured each rod and put them in order. Learning to measure in centimetres and millimetres.
Another SUPER SHARP student - well done Jet. Jet has made such good choices this year and it's really showing in his all around work and friendships. Yay Jet - you are a star!
Watching one of the videos for our syndicate assembly.

Happy 9th Birthday to Fergus - Fergus had his special news and told us what he was going to do for his birthday and his wonderful presents he got. Wow!!! We love birthdays ...
FRACTION time - pizza fraction work. Douglas led the class in this pizza fraction game. Douglas did so well in completing the full pizzas...the rest of the class joined in and it was great to watch them working out if they had one third - how many more thirds they needed to get a whole.
OUR SYNDICATE ASSEMBLY...wow still standing in the HOW MANY NIGHTS HAVE YOU READ....Jacob and Campbell have read over 250 nights!! Room 7 topped the syndicate - yaya!!

Helping in the shade class - here are the wonderful Niysa and Annabelle.
Syndicate assembly - it was great to see 3 parents pop in to join us for our assembly - thank you!
Here is Niysa in the shade house.

Learning through play - Douglas had a great morning using the play dough and then in the water trough - he was interacting with other children - and I must say - we got some lovely play dough cooking from him - thanks Mr D!
Campbell & Douglas in fine concentration =)

Miss SUPER SHARP girl - Jordyn. Following up on the fantastic SHARP note that Jordyn wrote to me about Elliot's shoes - we had a good discussion in class on Friday about how stoked I was to walk into the class and see Jordyn's note.
So I sent Jorydn and Elliot over to Mr Mackay to show how SHARP Jordyn had been - and here she is with a super ruler and a SHARP badge. How awesome!!
More SHARP children - these certificates are for achievement in basic facts. Campbell is up to write the fraction for which is at early stage 7 and Mackenzie is up to the 6 x tables which is at stage 6. Ka pai! A lot of achievement going on in Room 7 while we do testing - it's awesome to see and the big smiles on the hard workers!!

LABOUR DAY...following on from our home learning from last week. On Friday the black box questions (as below) ........ So we worked out 8 x 5days.... = 40 hour working week. We googled Mr Parnell who fought for this... so enjoy Monday.
The students went into groups and discussed what they thought they would be doing on Monday - some great activities to be had!
PET DAY art certificates - here is Esther with her 3rd place certificate....I love the faces in the background...lol
PHEW.......WHAT A WEEK!!!! Here are Elliot and Kane with PRINCIPAL stickers for wonderful achievement in their place value - well done boys!!!!!!!
