17.3.15..

I read this last night and thought it a good read, it's about reading.
I like that it points out - your child is an individual. Make reading enjoyable for your child - listen to them read and you read to them.
"Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, children are no different. Each child develops their reading skills at their own pace. "

Slideshow pics from last week =) AWESOME!!

Hi all - some photos I needed to add from last week..

The maths photos I just love - THE ROOM LOOKED LIKE A MATHS EXPLOSION.... - the children were all so engaged!! I looked around the room and thought I have to capture this....
(Hence when Angus's mum walked in she found me on the table!! - not dancing ;)
The photos also show Riley showing his painting, the children liked his artwork.
And a few of a group watering the school garden & Izzie with her SHARP morning tea.

Welcome to week 7...

Kia ora,
This is for you mums & nanas - we watched this - and we talked about our hiding places when we are naughty (we had a good laugh!!).
MUM'S WE LOVE YOU!
(Dad's we love you too - but this clip is for mums - very cool message).

An amazing visit by KIDS CAN COOK - CHRIS.

Sam the DO chef - Sous-chef...Sam did a fab job of helping Chris. Sam I was impressed with your grating skills.

Chef Chris with Room 7

Sam BG and Abbey created the below using Pic Collage on the iPad...they added photos, the recipe and some text.

We are famous - a link to The Times Age newspaper - article about Kids Can Cook visiting our school:

Super SHARP student - Izzie Edge:

Our class book we are reading at the moment is a funny Andy Griffiths one.  Ask your child to ask you about the GOAT, WOLF, CABBAGE, MAN & A BOAT - no bridge - get across the river...the man can only take one thing across at a time...how did he do this and keep them all safe?

Winter sports sign up - wow 96% of our class signed up for a winter sport - wow!
Great photo here of our Phoebe signing up for hockey...

LOOK AT THESE SUPER SHARP SEVEN STUDENTS - for fab responsibility work - they were able to draw and write to show how they are responsible. I was impressed with their good presentation as well!

Wow look at Sadie's brother Charlie - fancy that - a giraffe in Room 7.
Watch out Sadie that........scorpian is going to get you!! So brave!
Seb - you look like that tarantula is not a worry in the world!!
You too can have amazing creatures and animals in your own lounge - iPad/iPhone app: zookazam. It's awesome and we are still learning to use it to it's full effect.

WOW WOW WOW - look at Imogen's writing and fantastic SHARP homework - an interesting story that Imogen shared to the class! (And Mrs Jones as well).

I'm loving what Cuddles our class soft toy rabbit is getting up to when he goes home with the children (he seems to lead a more exciting life than me)..
Look at these photos:
Feeding the horse with Sadie.
Bouncing on the trampoline with Sadie.

Enjoying Baxter the dog with Seb - well from the diary entry - Cuddles had to hide for a while so Baxter didn't get him..LOL. Good one Seb!!

I'm off today to do the 'Round the Vines' to walk 10km with Amelia, what a fab fundraiser. Speaking of fundraising we have our own Nikki Regnault (teacher in r5) that is doing fundraising at the moment. Nikki is going to be travelling to Singapore for stem cell replacement treatment to help prevent the progression of her MS. Below is a little photo of a raffle that the staff did - we raised $300. I have set up a facebook page for those of you on facebook - this tells of upcoming events & information.  Go to facebook 'Next steps for Nikki".

Well done XAIVIER - a principal sticker for fab maths - 1st finished - and he did extra work!!

And our new SHARP student for week 4 was Erana - well done Erana for being SHARP and helping Miss Burt and your classmates. For showing RESPECT to the teacher and your friends.
KEEP US THIS SHARP WORK!!

And I love this pic of Sadie - her choice of SHARP award was to sit at the teacher's desk for a day - Sadie you suit sitting at my desk =)

CHINESE language lesson: We are very lucky to have .Zhangzhang who has started teaching the children Mandarin Chinese.
Today Zhangzhang taught the children to say hello, my name is.... They sang a song in Mandarin Chinese and learnt a bit about Chinese New Year.

Some children have been adding their dollars up - it's good to see their maths skills being used.
Thanks to Daisy, Sam T & Sam BG for bringing in prizes this week too.
And a big thank you TO ALL THE CHILDREN who have brought in prizes...

Wet lunch fun....look at these gorgeous girls...Izzie & Erana - oh so funky - in our dress up clothes!!
